The Ohio city of Dayton is getting its first official dog park, Dayton Daily News reports.

The project, situated on the grounds of the already existing park in the Linden Heights neighborhood, came along after the efforts of 47 volunteers who spent 141 hours to clean up 1,200 pounds of trash.

Volunteers will also equip a 21,000 sq. ft. dog training area there.

It’s been a big first half of the year for Dayton dogs.

Last month the Wright State University was appraised for being one of the best US universities for disabled students.

One of the main reasons for the recognition is that the educational institution hosts a park area for service dogs.

This university opened the first on-campus service dog park. […] The park also includes a covered patio area, a water station so that your dog doesn’t dehydrate after running around and paved paths. And construction is underway for a dog agility trail.

The Cincinnati SkyStar Ferris wheel is also paying special attention to pooches, hosting a dog-adoption event on Apriil 7, plus dogs will be allowed to accompany for free their owners riding the ferris wheel.
